DO YOU HAVE A PHOTO ID?
ACCEPTABLE VOTER PHOTO ID

These are acceptable for voting purposes, and can be unexpired OR expired AFTER November 4, 2014.

  • Wisconsin DOT-issued driver's license - even if driving privileges are revoked or suspended.

  • Wisconsin DOT-issued identification card.​

  • ​Active Military ID card issued by a US uniformed service.

  • A US Passport.​

  • Identification card issued by a federally recognized Indian tribe in Wisconsin. (No expiration date limit.)​

These are acceptable for voting purposes, but must be UNEXPIRED.

  • A certificate of naturalization - issued no earlier than 2 years before the election day it is presented.

  • A driving receipt issued by Wisconsin DOT - valid for 45 days.

  • A photo ID card issued by an accredited Wisconsin university or collage that contains: date issued, signature of student, expiration date no later than 2 years after date of issuance.
        NOTE: A UNIVERSITY OR COLLEGE ID MUST BE         ACCOMPANIED BY A SEPARATE DOCUMENT WHICH PROVES         ENROLLMENT, ie, tuition receipt, schedule.

  • A citation or notice of intent to revoke or suspend a Wisconsin DOT-issued driver license that is dated within 60 days of the election day it is presented.​
NO PHOTO ID? We can help!
If you do not have a photo ID listed, are a US citizen and will be 18 years or older by the next election, you can get a Wisconsin DOT-issued identification card at no cost at your local Department of Motor Vehicles Office. 

You will need to complete ID application MV3004 and check the "ID for FREE" box on the application.

Documents required to apply for a free state ID:

  • Proof of name and date of birth (ie. birth certificate).

  • Proof of identity (ie. social security card).

  • Proof of Wisconsin residency (ie. ​utility or phone bill, paycheck or lease).

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE PROOF OF IDENTITY OR CITIZENSHIP, SUCH AS A BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND OBTAINING SUCH DOCUMENTS WOULD INCUR FEES - A PETITION PROCESS IS AVAILABLE AT THE DMV.

OUR VOLUNTEERS CAN OFFER FREE TRANSPORTATION TO THE DMV AND ASSISTANCE IN SUBMITTING DOCUMENTS TO RECEIVE APPROPRIATE PHOTO ID.
